Alex Manners Talks during Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Asperger's Champion, Public Speaker‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ and Includability Ambassador, Alex Manners, presented to a staff network of our Includability Committed Employers, Forestry Commission during Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

Alex gave his brilliant “My life living with Asperger’s” online talk to Forestry Commission’s recently established Disability, Neurodiversity and Carers staff network in the Forestry Commission after meeting fellow Includability Ambassador Wali Rahman - Diversity and Wellbeing Manager at Forestry Commission – at one of Includability’s Employer Support Groups (ESG) in 2020.

How did Forestry Commission and Alex Manners connect?

Wali was keen to share the author of ‘That's Not Right! My life Living with Asperger's’ experience with his colleagues and helped facilitate the meeting the staff network.

Wali said: “I met Alex at the launch of Includability in 2020, with us both being Includability Ambassadors. I was really impressed and inspired by Alex’s story and the work he does. Ever since, I have been looking for an opportunity to invite Alex to share his story so colleagues and managers can benefit from his knowledge, expertise and lived experience.
“We recently launched our Disability, Neurodiversity and Carers staff network who invited Alex to present his talk “My life living with Asperger’s” to our staff during Neurodiversity Celebration Week. We have received lots of positive feedback from the event and highly recommend all organisations who are genuine in promoting neurodiversity in their workplace to invite Alex and hear what he has to say.”

Alex added, “When Wali moved to his new role at the Forestry Commission, he got back in touch. Subsequently a talk was arranged, and Alex presented a talk all about “My Life Living with Asperger’s” to Wali and his colleagues during Neurodiversity Celebration Week”.
