Ella’s Kitchen have been making full use of their Includability Committed Employer and Official partner status as they make new connections within our community to improve their business.

Speaking at our April Employer Support Group (ESG), Kimberly Deverall, Make People Happy (HR Manager) at Ella’s Kitchen said the team at Ellla’s are always looking to community platforms for new ideas on how to improve every aspect of their business.

Harnessing the Includability Community

Ella’s Kitchen have utilised our Verification Partner, Unleashed – who specialise in IT services for talent management to profile the skills of their employees and ensure their people’s talents are being fully realised and engaging their teams by spreading project groups out by the strengths and passions of their staff.

They have also booked a number of our outstanding Includability Ambassadors to educate their staff in pressing topics. Alex Manners was invited to talk about his experience of autism and neurodiversity, and Saski was also invited to the Ella’s Kitchen headquarters to talk about her work with Pride.

Masami Sato from our giving partners, B1G1 have also spoken with the team.

Kim talked about the projects and talks that have run because of Includability community introductions, she said, “We were introduced to Unleashed by Includability and from there we worked together, and we decided to use their services for our employee profiling which has been great!
“We have also used the Includability network to invite guest speakers to help educate our employees on super important topics. We have had the lovely Masami Sato, Saski and most recently Alex Manners.”

Tapping into the B Corp community

Ella’s Kitchen have been a B Corp since 2016, have won Best for the World – Changemakers in 2019, and were a huge inspiration for DiSRUPT Agency and Includability to become B Corp certified.

In 2022, Ella's Kitchen teamed up with fellow Includability Official Partners, COOK Trading Ltd and with Pukka Pies and Lily’s Kitchen to launch a joint B Corp training scheme in the food and drink sector.

The scheme allows each business to learn from each other and connect individuals, helping each business to grow and develop to benefit the health and wellbeing of their people.

Learning from everyone

At our ESG, Kim spoke about how the team at Ella’s also look at impact reports from peer organisations and checking in with upstream and downstream suppliers for ideas on how they can improve their sustainability practices.

This method let the team realise they should be certified as Living Wage Employers.

Kim added, “Use the B Corp community and the Includability community because you’re doing the right thing utilising those resources. Sharing is important to let people approach you and ask how you can do better and sharing those best practices. Sharing is caring!”
